Frist off let me start by saying my dog was never treated here, HOWEVER I was recommended to call them from numerous friends as well as my regular veterinarian. I called bc it was suggested that since they are a teaching school, their procedures cost significantly less than other vets. When I called, I was greeted with a very rude receptionist. When I asked for a quote on a biopsy, she asked if I had an established vet and asked in a very rude tone "then why are you calling here" I told her it was suggested by my vet and other friends and was told it was cheaper to get procedures done here. She interrupted me and said "no, that is not the case were are comparable to everywhere else." I asked for how much a biopsy is she replied" I don't know" I asked for her to please get me a quote and she put me on hold, then said "let me see if they will even consider taking you as a client." She got back on and said "no they won't take you". WHAT?!?!?! After months of trying different medications on my dog and feeling so hopeless, it did not help to be turned away by a receptionist after I only heard wonderful things about the teaching school. I've spent thousands of dollars on my pup, so naturally I am going to search and see if I can get a biopsy at a reduced price! I'm still shocked that whoever answered wouldn't even allow me to schedule! The feeling she left me was dejected, discouraged and frustrated. I will take my business else where.

This hospital is great for clinical trials, rare conditions, and large animals that need specialist care. However, I would not recommend bringing your domestic pet (dog/cat) here. They are no better than your local vet, will take forever because of the training element, and most importantly, you will leave with charges you can't understand or believe. **It is outrageously expensive.**

I would like to share my experience in hopes that this Veterinary Hospital can learn from their mistakes. I brought my golden retriever in for tests after a recommendation from another vet. The neurological team led by Dr. Jones observed my dog for a few hours and concluded he had some neurological deficit in his hind legs. They recommended an MRI, spinal tap and blood work. I returned later and met with the team. They said that all the tests showed nothing wrong. They concluded he could use some physical therapy and promised an email with recommendations for therapy and results of his tests. About 2 weeks later, I received a bill in the mail saying that additional costs had been added to my bill and demanded payment. Still no email from Dr Jones. 2 weeks later I received a call demanding payment at which point I asked them why no follow up email had been sent. Later that day Dr. Jones sent an email that she claimed had been sent shortly after my appointment. I can assure you i never received it. So here is my conclusion. I really have no idea if the doctors are good at medicine as they were unable to find anything wrong with my dog after saying they observed issues. That cost was apx $4000. But I do know this...they call themselves a teaching hospital and acknowledge that apx 70% of their students enter private veterinary practices. They acknowledged that different groups within the hospital have different follow up procedures and the neurological department never follows up with a phone call. If this happens in private practice they will not be in business very long. I sure hope this medical group learns how to properly train their vet students.
